Biography
Venkatesh Prasad (Venky) is a former Indian Cricketer, Cricket Coach, and Commentator who played Tests and ODIs. He made his debut in 1994. He represented India in the 1996 and 1999 World Cups.
He was awarded the CEAT International Cricketer of the year award in 1997, Eklavya Award for sports excellence from the Government of Karnataka State in 1999, Arjuna Award for sports excellence from the Government of India in 2001, Rajyotsava Award for sports excellence from the Government of Karnataka State in 2006 and he was nominated for the Wisden cricketer of the year in 1997.
He has been the bowling coach for Indian Cricket Team from May 2007 till September 2009, he was the head coach for Bangalore Royal Challengers team in the Inaugural year of IPL 2008, bowling coach of KINGS XI Punjab in the IPL 2018, bowling coach for Chennai Super Kings team in the IPL for 2 years 2009 & 2010 and an assistant coach for Royal Challengers Bangalore Team in 2011, 2012 & 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL).
Besides, he has been a Cricket Development officer for Asian Cricket Council for 2 years in 2010 & 2011, head coach of Nangahar Leopards in Afghanistan Premier League 2018, head coach of Karnataka State Ranji Team in 2006 – 2007, head coach for the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Team in the Ranji Trophy for 3 years from 2011 – 2014.
He coached Indian U-19 team for 18 months till the end of World Cup in Sri Lanka 2006, he was appointed as the coach for the U-17 Indian team for the ASIA cup in the year 2004. He has performed the role of a bowling coach at National Cricket Academy (NCA), in different age categories like, U15, U17, U19, U22 and All India University team
Prasad has a post-graduate certificate in International Sports Management (ISM) from the University of London (UoL).
