Venky Rajagopal born in a family of Civil Servants, is a first-generation entrepreneur. He did his post-graduation in Economics and joined the civil services as an IPS Officer in the year 1979. He served for 10 years and resigned in 1988. He started his entrepreneurial journey in 1989, with Celebrity Fashions, and in the year 2000 started Indian Terrain. He took both companies public, Celebrity in 2006 and Indian Terrain in 2011. Between them, the two companies have a turnover of 1,250 crores.

Venky Rajagopal has been associated with the MMA for the last 4 years. He held office as the President in the year 2012-13. He held office in CII- Tamil Nadu, as Chair of the Taskforce on Nurturing Entrepreneurship, in the year 2011-12. He was the Captain of the Kodaikanal Golf Club, in the year 2011-12. He was the Co-Chairman of CII National MSME council in the year 2010-11. He joined the YPO-WPO Chennai Chapter in 2005 and is currently a member of WPO Chennai Chapter.

He is also a keen cyclist, and in 2016 he participated in the Tour of Nilgiris, cycling endurance event, covering 1,000 km over 8 days. Also, a passionate golfer, he has played the game for 20 years now.

Murali Sivaraman is currently on the Boards of Bharat Forge – Independent Director, Huhtamaki Paper Products Ltd – Chairman and Independent Director, Signify Innovations (Philips Lighting) – Non-Executive Chairman. He has more than 20 Years of Global Business Leadership working with two leading MNCs – ICI (Akzo Nobel) and Philips. He has lived and worked in China for 9 years, South East Asia (Singapore) for 6 years and North America/Europe for 3 years. Within Philips – his recent roles were – President for Philips Lighting – Growth Markets (Singapore base) - overseeing 25 countries across Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa (Euro 1.5 BN).

His prior roles with Philips were CEO – Philips Consumer Lifestyle Domestic Appliance (Shanghai base – Euro 1.7 BN) and Managing Director – Philips India (Lighting, Healthcare and Consumer Electronics). He has successfully completed large acquisitions in India, China and the Middle East.

Murali is a qualified Chartered Accountant, Cost and Works Accountant, MBA from IIM Ahmedabad and completed his Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School. After working for 3 decades across the World – he has now relocated to India – Mumbai and is dividing his time between Board Roles, Coaching/Mentoring, enabling NGOs to scale up and teaching as a Visiting Faculty.

Arvind (61 years) is the Founder & Chairman of Technopak Advisors. Having started its operations on January 1992, Technopak is one of India’s leading management consulting firms focusing on 4 key sectors that include consumer products and retail, textiles and apparel, packaged food & food services, and education & skills development.

He has a Bachelor of Engineering degree from IIT-Roorkee, India (1979) that has also recognized him as a “Distinguished Alumnus”, India and an MBA from UCLA, USA (1982). Over the years, Arvind has been invited to speak at leading academic institutions and professional forums which include Harvard (USA), Wharton (USA), UCLA (USA), ESADE (Spain), various IIMs (India) and IITs (India), and the Vatican (Italy) to list a few. He also writes frequently for leading Indian and International publications with over 400 published pieces to date.

Arvind sits on several Boards (including some not-for-profit). He is currently on the statutory Boards of Welspun India, Greaves Cotton Ltd., Blue Star Ltd., Metro Shoes, and Premium Transmission Ltd.

Mr. Vellayan Subbiah, son of Padma Bhushan M V Subbiah, is part of the fourth generation of the Murugappa family.

Mr. Vellayan holds a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from IIT Madras and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He has over 23 years of experience in varied fields viz., technology, projects and financial services. He has worked with McKinsey and Company, 24/7 Customer Inc. and Sundram Fasteners Ltd. He was a recipient of the Extraordinary Entrepreneur of the Year – TiECON 2014 Award. He was the Managing Director of Laserwords Private Ltd from 2007-10 and of Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company Limited from 2010-17. He is currently the Managing Director of Tube Investments of India Ltd.

Mr. Vellayan is an avid cyclist and a marathon runner.

Former CEO of Mahindra Integrated Business Solutions – an advisory and business process management arm of the diversified US$ 17 Billion Mahindra Group. Ajit was responsible for transforming a Shared Services Centre of the Mahindra Group into a full-fledged Advisory and Business Process Management Company with products/services spanning Strategy and Enterprise Risk Management Advisory to Digitization and Transactional Outsourcing. He has over 23 years of experience in the industry as an entrepreneur. He has built businesses in Music Publishing, Media (Compact Discs/DVDs) Manufacturing, Logistics and Financial Services and is currently nurturing his own initiative called FREE (Forests, Renewable Energy and Environment); associated with NPO Trusts/ Organizations and mentoring select people and a few start-ups in his personal capacity.

Nandakumar K Nair (NK), is the founder and CEO of SunTec Business Solutions, leaders in revenue management and business assurance solutions. With nearly three and a half decades of experience in the banking, telecom, retail and travel industry, he has shaped customer-centric software platforms and products for pricing and billing across these transaction-intensive verticals. He is credited with building the 1 st automated billing solution for India’s national telecom provider.

He has pioneered and patented the concept of real-time value-chain management in digital business ecosystems and has contributed in evolving the relationship-based pricing philosophy for banking – now acknowledged as the key to balanced pricing dynamics.

A widely-read writer, he has written for several technology newsletters and blogs and spoken at several technology and industry thought leadership summits. He is associated with industry forums such as CII, NASSCOM and TiE and is also a keen mentor of start-ups and entrepreneurs.



Former CEO, ESSAR Steel Middle East

Girish Rao is a corporate professional, with over 35 years of experience in the fields of consumer durables, steel, and retail. An MMS graduate from BHU, he worked with BPL where he had a successful stint, ending as Head of Sales. Then he joined LG Electronics as Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, where he drove market expansion taking the brand to the No.1 position in all categories in India.

Later as CEO of ESSAR Steel Hypermart, he set up a first of its kind retail business for steel, catering to the MSME sector. This model became a pioneering benchmark in the steel industry and set new standards.

As CEO for ESSAR Steel Middle East in Dubai, he increased the company’s presence in the GCC and Iraq. Currently, he is a consultant and has set up INSALESPRO- a community for the sales fraternity in the country.

Sunil Buch is a versatile and multi-talented leader. He has over two decades of leadership and general management experience spanning FMCG, Advertising, Telecom, Retail and Media, and Entertainment sectors. Sunil has served and contributed in leadership roles at Colgate – Palmolive, Johnson & Johnson, Leo Burnett, Marico, Reliance Communications and ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Limited where he was the CEO of Zee Live and Zee Talent. Last year he crafted one of the most interesting partnerships between Zee & Rally for Rivers, which gave one of the best advertising films for the rally. Currently, he works for Live Nation Entertainment, a $10 Billion live music entertainment conglomerate.

He specializes in creating profitable brand-led businesses via thought leadership, entrepreneurial problem-solving, creative strategy and execution. In a corporate career spanning 30 years, Ajay Kaul has worked at companies such as American Express, Lufthansa, TNT (India and Indonesia), and as a CEO of Jubilant FoodWorks for twelve years.

Jubilant FoodWorks operates Domino’s Pizza and Dunkin’ Donuts in India, and under Ajay’s leadership became India’s largest and fastest-growing food service company, while India became Domino’s largest market in the world (after the United States).

Ajay is now working in an advisory capacity with various companies having interests in India and abroad. His main role is that of a Senior Advisor with Everstone Capital Advisors. He also actively mentors a few startups in his personal capacity and through the Indian Angel Network.

He also founded a charitable trust to undertake socially responsible work. Ajay has been recognized with the “Distinguished Alumnus of the Year” award by XLRI Jamshedpur in 2014; “Outstanding CEO of the Year” award by CEO India Inc. in 2014; and as one of the “Top 100 CEOs in India” for 3 years by Business Today; The “Entrepreneur of the Year 2010” by Ernst and Young.
