JM heads Actis operations in South Asia. He is a member of the Investment Committees for India and South Asia Funds. JM joined CDC Capital Partners in 1997, prior to the creation of Actis in 2004, and was responsible for setting up the Mumbai office. JM has led a number of successful private equity deals in India, including UTI Bank, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Jyothy Laboratories and more recently Sterling Hospital and Paras Pharmaceuticals. JM has been a key contributor to Actis’s successful track record in India. Prior to joining Actis, JM was senior vice president at Gujarat Venture Finance Ltd. (GVFL) in India. JM joined GVFL in its formative stage and helped it raise its first three Funds. JM’s professional career spanning more than 30 years includes 17 years of VC/PE experience and 12 years in development banking. JM is a chemical engineer from IIT, Mumbai and holds a Diploma in finance from the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India.
